What is an unusual night in a manor?
An "unusual night" is when the accommodation isn't the point. It is the experience. You don't sleep next to the activity. You sleep inside it. A cabin, a barge, a lighthouse… or a manor. In Northern France such offers are rare, and rarer still when the night is tied to a game that takes over the whole house.
That is exactly the idea at The Granges: a converted 18th-century manor where you spend the evening investigating, where you dine, and where you sleep before leaving the next day. Not a hotel with an optional activity, but one unique place for a single night.
Our format: a 2-day, 1-night escape game
The manor is privatised for your group. You arrive in the late afternoon; the game master sets The Secrets of Béthencourt in motion, a historical thriller around the estate's last lady. Then the game takes over the whole house.
The manor and its barns unfold 650 m² of playable space across 11 rooms, for around 7 hours of actual play — at your own pace, since you sleep on site. The detail, surface and duration set against other venues of the format, is on our sourced comparison of overnight escape games.
How a night at The Granges unfolds
You arrive in the late afternoon. The game master welcomes the group and sets the first puzzle. The house then reveals itself room by room, at your own pace.
Midway through the evening, dinner is served on site, around the same table. The investigation resumes afterwards, and the story deepens as the night goes on.
When the game ends, each guest settles into one of the manor's six separate bedrooms. There is no rush, and no other group to share the house with.
In the morning, breakfast is laid out under the glass roof of the glasshouse, before a calm departure. This continuous flow is what makes The Granges a genuine unusual night, not a hotel with an add-on. The project has already been featured in the local press, in L'Observateur and La Voix du Nord.
Who it's for
The format runs from 6 to 12 people. It is made for those after something other than a one-hour outing:
- With friends. A milestone birthday, a reunion of a scattered group, a weekend out of the ordinary.
- Stag and hen parties. A whole night to live together, without leaving Northern France.
- As a couple or small group. For anyone who loves narrative games and places steeped in history.
The escape game with friends page covers prices and frequent questions.
